The Eye of Mongombo was my first original comic book, and it was first published 30 years ago. It was cancelled before the story was completed (a mutual decision between me and the publisher) I had always wanted to go back to it and complete the story, but I needed to do some heavy editing to the existing material first. I didn't want to cut too much of the old gags that people liked, but needed to fix the parts that caused story problems (unresolved story elements, characters who change drastically too quickly, etc) Also, my drawing style has changed enough over the years that I knew I would have to draw the earlier chapters over again. But now I have a complete story, and have started to pull the whole thing together.
EDIT: Do NOT buy this book from Lulu.com. They redesigned their site recently and practically destroyed everything over there. I really can't tell you that you would receive a good quality book from them at this time. In the meantime, you can buy a digital copy here:
They are free to read if you subscribe to Kindle Unlimited or Comixology Unlimited!
Please enjoy the first chapter as a preview:
Just sat down at my computer looking at the framed EOM #1 I have on my wall, next to the hand drawn Boswick you sent me back in 1991 for being a subscriber. I subscribed way back then and have 2 of each issue. Excited to see the story again.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brad! Nice to know you're still out there. I hope you will enjoy the completed story!
ReplyDeleteWhen is Book 2 available?
ReplyDeleteHey R.G., sorry for the late reply, I haven't been online a whole lot lately. I'm a little behind, but I'm thinking the second volume (chapters 5-8)will be ready in January. It will only be available digitally, though, since Lulu self-destructed and Amazon books look terrible. Thanks for your patience!
